Dumbo House is a member’s club in Brooklyn NY. It has a 6,000 sq ft terrace overlooking both the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. We lead the design as in-house Senior Designers for Soho House.
The site for this project is an old warehouse building in Dumbo, Brooklyn. It sits directly on the East River with a prime view to Manhattan. We wanted to maintain the industrial DNA of the space so imagined this terrace as an overgrown garden, a hidden oasis amongst the steel and concrete.
Trailing vines crawl up the pergola which shades the central bar. We drew on our surroundings for the central color story, pulling the blue paint tone from the iconic Manhattan Bridge and lending it to umbrellas and maritime striped fabrics.
