The beach club, recently added to the 1 Hotel South Beach property, was designed to take you far, far away.
The sofas and chairs throughout were made from old railroad planks pulled from decommissioned railway tracks. The dining tables were made with reclaimed wood from old houses, deteriorating bridges and boats. Many of the original markings and nails were left in the wood to retain as much history from the materials as possible. We also thought it was important for the fabrics to tell a story.
We were inspired from antique kilims and custom made a woven outdoor stripe pattern to help portray a lived-in, worn atmosphere. The landscape design became an important design element for us as well, nestling seating groups into overgrown planting to create a lush and exotic atmosphere.
