Dumbo House is a 13,000 sq ft member’s club in Brooklyn NY, housing a club space, restaurant, bar, terrace, rooftop and pool. We lead the design as in-house Senior Designers for Soho House.
The site for this project was an old warehouse building in Dumbo, Brooklyn. We were inspired by Dumbo’s history as a haven for artists and writers in the 1960s. We imagined this space as an artist’s loft, an expansive space filled with light and color and music hosting creatives across industries. The color palette references the period - avocado greens, rich brown, burgundy – all enveloped in a rich blue hue that perfectly matches the blue of the iconic Manhattan Bridge. Furniture shapes are sculptural, with tight upholstered curves on modernist wood frames, sandwiched between shag geometric rugs below and ombre glass above.
